If you clean your carpets only "when they look dirty," a professional cleaning is long overdue. Carpets that are thoroughly cleaned, by a professional, will wear less and last longer. Plan to establish a regular schedule for cleaning carpets every 12-18 months--more often for high traffic, light-color carpeting or children and pets, households with smokers, and for those that suffer with allergies.
In New Mexico, some like to wait for the end of our windy season when dust and other debris from the outdoors is nearly impossible to keep from flying indoors. Others prefer to wait for high pollen season or muddy monsoon season to end. And families with children often wait until school year begins and the children are back in school.
If you don't remember when your carpets were last cleaned, call Wes today! Get on his schedule for a cleaning in the next week or two. Remember to ask him to "pencil you in" for a 6, 12, or 18 months cleaning.
what about allergies?
Recent studies suggest that properly cleaned carpeting might be a better option than hard surface floors for allergy suffers. Dust mites, mold spores, pollen, and other dirt is more easily stirred by traffic on hard surfaces.
general carpet maintenance
The average six room home accumulates about 40 pounds of dust a year. An average human sheds about 1-million skin cells per hour. Dust, skin cells, pet dander combine with airborne soil particles and settle into your carpeting--creating a perfect breeding ground for dangerous microorganisms.
Carpets should be vacuumed at least once a week, and a twice a week or daily in rooms with high traffic rooms and homes with pets. Regular vacuuming is the easiest and most effective way to keep your carpets clean inbetween scheduled steam cleanings.
